The Full text Service

We provide our full text files in html which can be read in any web browser. You can either have the publications sent to you as email attachments or you can download them from the website whenever you like. It's like getting your newsagent to deliver titles you regularly read like your daily paper and popping into the shop to get something different from time to time.

To set up a regular email delivery just call our Customer Services team and tell us what you want. Then as soon as the publication is available it will pop into your in box. From there you open the email, save the attachment, unzip and open it in your web browser. If you have a mobile phone with text 2 speech software, such as Talks, you can pick up the file and save it in your phone and then read it wherever and whenever you choose.

If you would like some technical advice on software or devices you can call RNIB Technical Support team on 0845 9000015.

Please read the Full Text How to and FAQ page for more information.

You can try this service via our free full text trial web page.

The Audio download Service

The Audio Download Service allows you to access the publications we record in our studios via the web.

Publications can be listened to online via streaming, downloaded to your PC for later listening (in MP3 format), or you can subscribe to a publication’s podcast to download the audio automatically when a new edition becomes available.

Each publication edition is divided into two or four parts (each part relating to a tape ‘side’) and each part can be downloaded individually. Each part is approximately 13MB in size, requiring a download time of approximately 1 minute using a standard 2MB broadband. Using a dial-up connection, each part will take about 40 minutes to download.

Publications can also be downloaded or played on a track-by-track basis.

A podcast is available for each publication which can be used with such programs as iTunes. This will enable you to automatically download the latest edition of each publication as it becomes available.

This service can be also accessed by the Sonata Radio supplied by the British Wireless for the Blind Fund.

A free example page can be access using this link.

Check out the Audio Download Categories and Publications List for more details.
